It is naive to think this would be a safer world if YOU, or any other well meaning “crusader for the
good of the people”, were able to outlaw guns. Criminals and crazies have a way of killing people.
criminals and crazies were killing people long before there were guns. ( The world was a much more
dangerous place before guns, when unstoppable bands could roam the countryside with swords raping
and pillaging. ) Japan took Okinawa by military force and made it law that no okinawan shall possess a
sword. Perhaps YOU or some other “crusader for the good of the people” could pass a law so that it would
be illegal to possess a sword, for the safety of the masses of course. I’m sure that YOU and your “crusader”
friends plan on government agencies and police departments still having guns. Will secret service or
county officers go home with guns or will they be locked up at headquarters. Will police departments be
bound by law to “be there on time to prevent harm to citizens” be it at the hands of criminals or crazies
armed with bats or steak knives . . . or guns or swords.
This debate can get ridiculous. History shows a world as or more brutal before guns. history
shows many cases of very bad things happening to a population disarmed by a government. A woman (
physically smaller person ) in America does not have to brutalized by a strong criminal or crazy. The reality
is that there are two possibilities behind the reasoning of YOU and your crusader friends. 1 - you want to
put your head in the sand and make the bad things stop. Good intentions - but unrealistic. I believe this is
what drives Rep. McArthy.
After a hurricane and the bread and milk low or gone on the store shelves. In the middle of a five
day blackout, my family was sitting on our front porch. A gang of 15 or so youths in there late teens and
early twenties come walking down the road shining bright flashlights yelling “who’s there - are you OK?” It
wasn’t comforting - it was intimidating & meant to be so! Words were exchanged - you can’t appear weak &
intimidated like a potential victim at a time like this! My wife said that was scary, imagine there was a
bigger problem than this.
I did have my legal .45 caliber pistol in my belt at the time, though nobody ever knew it. It never
came out. It is my first and foremost responsibility to protect my family, home , & self all the time. Not as an
afterthought. Watch the news - there are people in this world who do horrific things. Not rarely, there is
horror on the news every day. My legal AR-15 with legal 30 round magazines came out of lock-up for the
duration of the blackout. After my wife said “that was scary” I told her “that is why we own this! Not for
hunting or target shooting - situations like this!
I am an American citizen - I have the right - in the bill of rights meant for the individual - to not
only keep but to bear arms. I do not have to hope for a police car to arrive while my family is brutalized.
There is no obligation to keep or bear arms, however those who do not, have no right to disarm those who
do. It is not the purpose of a gun to slaughter innocent victims, however crazies & criminals use it for such.
Cars run people down, baseball bats smash peoples heads in, the same knife used to carve the turkey on
thanksgiving can be used for ax-murder type slaughters - though it is not there true purpose. The gun may
have more destructive power - but this is what gives it the ability to be used to protect the weak against the
stronger or against superior numbers until the police do arrive.
Police can not be sued for not responding “in time”. Their duty is to investigate crimes, apprehend
those responsible and and hold them so the courts can decide their punishment. YOU are responsible for
your own protection. YOU can be as serious or aloof as YOU choose. YOU should scream for the police and
courts to do a better job punishing the crazies and criminals - because THEY are the CRAZIES! In this world
it is an easy case to be made that citizens who choose to protect themselves with firearms are the smart
ones! Yet you try to portray these good family loving people as the crazies! That is insane and UN-
American!!!
Gun rights are being infringed, illegally, in this country. True, to hunt you do not need a 30 round
magazine. The reality is that after the hurricane, or refinery terrorist attack and resulting fuel shortage
stopping truck deliveries, or any breakdown of normal life, the criminals & crazies, the strong who bully, all
become predators. And yes, band together. And at that point police get very busy. (A normal holiday
weekend will be enough to put you on “hold” when you dial 911!!!) At that point response times could be too
long to be of any help at all. You are on your own, and at that point a 30 round magazine is desirable,
comforting & yes needed. However it is now illegal to purchase anything over a 10 round magazine.
Because a crazy criminal may break the law. ILLEGAL INFRINGEMENT OF THE RIGHT TO BEAR ARMS!!! This
brings us to reason number 2.
People in the government feel it is to their advantage to take away the ability of the people to
stage an armed resistance! This line of thinking is UN-American. Like it or not, this line of thinking is in
direct contrast to what the second amendment is truly about!!! A government of the people, by the
people, for the people, would find their strength in a strong armed citizenry!!! A government of the people,
by the people, for the people, would not find the “militia” part of the second amendment threatening.
Looters would have a tough time if armed neighbors came together on each block to prevent lawlessness!
It could be like a “well regulated militia” to keep the law, or at least prevent atrocities, when the police are
overwhelmed. It’s a far better scenario than a disarmed public at the mercy of predators. A strong
government of the people, by the people, for the people, is comforted by an armed, patriotic, strong
citizenry. If a government fears an armed population they are probably heading in a direction of feeling the
need to be able to control a population while following an agenda the people do not like. Perhaps in a
direction thats good for the people even though they don’t think so, or don’t know any better and wether
they like it or not because they have no recourse and we have nothing to fear from a disarmed population
anyway, and besides, it’s for their own good! Doesn’t sound like America!
It is your right to decide against bearing arms, though I find your decision foolish. Don’t think
good people should be forced to give up their ability to protect their family because you have the delusion
of making the world safer after a criminal commits a horrible act.

If you're Bill Gates, you'd make billions. This has nothing to do with his software or web-based knowledge. Marketing (and monopoly) is his niche. He could sell ice to Eskimos and has become the wealthiest person in the world simply by P.T. Barnum's rule of thumb: "There's a fool born every minute."
